February 15th, 2012

This is Jake. He has been an infrequent visitor to our home for the last several years. He ate our outside cat's food, then promptly left, not to return until several months later. This time around he is staying for forever. He arrived late in September last year. He looked really bad. He had an injured front paw. His fur was greasy looking. Poor guy. I let him come in for a few minutes and to my surprise he curled up on my lap and fell asleep. I did not think he was a loving cat, he seemed really rough.
We left for a week the last week of September and when we returned he had taken up residence in one of our outdoor cat houses. Only he was not doing any better. His paw was now bleeding and oozing stuff. We took him to the vet. He was tested for feline AIDS and leukemia. We thought for sure he would be positive. Much to our surprise he tested negative. Yay!!!!! We were given antibiotics and told to clean his wound with peroxide every day. I did just that and he got better. Then he took a really bad turn. Let's just say it was REALLY bad.....

To be continued....

In An Instant

Earlier this evening, I walked into the living room to find my 7 year old standing on the back of the couch. I could not believe what I was seeing. I simply pointed to her bedroom door and she slid down the back of the couch. She began whimpering. She went to her room.
After being in time out for about 15 minutes, I began my tirade. I was just so disappointed that she would do something like that...we always talk about how we need to take care of our things. I talked to Hubby, who is at work, and he said that he found her doing the same thing a few days earlier. ): So she knew that she was not supposed to do it.

I try so hard to be a good mom. Try to be in the moment. Try to see life through my young daughters eyes. Today I failed big time. I displayed conduct unbecoming of a mother.

In an instant I chose not to forgive her, I just feel so angry. I told her I loved her, just that I didn't like her behavior. We both cried. I will ask for her forgiveness in the morning. She will give it with no hesitation. I have a lot to learn from my 7 year old.

Family Fun Night

We had originally planned to go to Hubby's work place for Family Movie Night. But, he wasn't feeling good so we stayed in for the night. We bought some popcorn and candy and had a Movie Night here at home. Mr. Popper's Penguins was the movie choice. It was cute and the girls laughed a lot.
We also ordered our favorite pizza from Paris. Joe's Pizza is the best. Really, it is the BEST pizza ever.
Joe's Pizza December 2009

After the girls were tucked into bed, Hubby and I watched Super 8. It was interesting. Kept me awake. (I have a tendency to fall asleep during movies.) :)

Today was a struggle. It is super cold outside. Snow fell for a better part of the day. The wind is howling right now. The hot water tap in the kitchen is now frozen. Crazy, windy nights always put me on edge, not sure why. Hopefully sleep comes quickly and the wind dies down.

Such concentration. Just another day of being Home Schooled. This is my Kindergartener. She can't sit still, talks a lot. Likes to tell jokes. (Jokes that make sense only to her.) She is such a joy and loves to learn, just like her big sister.

My 7 year old is in 1st grade. I love being their teacher. That moment that they "get" whatever I am teaching....it really is priceless.

February 8th,2012

Woke up today to snow. We haven't seen much of snow this winter. So seeing the beautiful white stuff was nice.

Today was Why Wait Wednesday? I do at least one thing I have been procrastinating about for awhile. Today I finished a book called Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.
I began reading it in December and finished it today. It was a very sweet story. I learned about the interment of Japanese living in the U.S. during WW2. I really appreciated the story.

Took the girls to the library for Story Hour. Both of the girls made me a paper basket of heart flowers. They were so proud to give their creations to me.

Today was a good day.
