December Photo Project-Day 23, 2011

I know...not very Christmasy. But it was the only picture I took today. This poor little guy was about to be a snack for one of our cats. Just a tiny baby Camel Cricket. They grow to be huge and quite creepy looking. I released him into the great outdoors. Merry Christmas!

Glitter, pearls, glue. Our First Annual Homemade Ornament Event! What a mouthful...lol.
It was fun. But I have a confession...I HATE glitter. I LOVED watching my girls sprinkling it on everything!

Dakota's design....my favorite ornament. Love it.

Welcome

A little tradition my husband and I began several years ago, is to make a Date Night and pick out an ornament for each other. This is the ornament I chose for him. He is a guitar enthusiast.

This is the ornament he chose for me. I love it. I love our little tradition.

December Photo Project-Day 5, 2011

This is my little Christmas Organizer. It is divided by year. Within each year are several sections. Christmas Cards Sent, Cards Received, Gifts Given, Gifts Received. A section for ideas for next Christmas. It doesn't feel like Christmas until I remove this little gem from its shelf.

December Photo Project-Day 1, 2011

Today is the first day of The December Photo Project. Can't wait to post my first picture.

This is one of my favorite Christmas items. My now 21 year old daughter got it in Sunday school when she was 6 years old. I still read the stories and copy the activities for my 5 & 7 year old girls.

Day 7

An old brass lamp that I have had forever...

The pictures aren't very interesting...I need to get a picture of it with its new shade.

September's 30 Days of Projects~Day 6, 2011

I am so far behind:( A death in my not-so-immediate family has really hit me hard.

Day 6

A Bentwood Rocker that I curbside picked. I really doubted that I could make this thing look better.

Before...
Meets After...

A couple coats of spray paint. I covered the back and seat with a plastic tablecloth. I think it turned out relatively well.

Day 5

Ooops, forgot to add this project yesterday.

This table was free...curbside pick-up. Brass and rattan? Scrubbed it down, gave it two coats of spray paint. Cleaned the glass top.

September's 30 Days of Projects~Day 4, 2011

Day 4

We replaced our outdoor backporch light fixture. I almost tossed it in the garbage, almost.

Before...
Meets After...

Here she is all cleaned up. Quick coat of paint. White, of course. I need to buy a piece of glass panel to finish it up. I am going to use it as a votive candle holder!

September's 30 Days of Projects~Day 3, 2011

Day 3

Yard Sale find, $3.00.

Before...
Meets After...

I sanded the top, gave it a coat of white spray paint and decoupaged the floral design on the seat. I gave it two coats of Modge Podge. The wrinkles kind of bugged me at first, but they have grown on me. :)

Oh, and that is Bella. Sweet kitty is very curious and has to be where the action is!

I used some Top Brite to clean it up...

September's 30 Days of Projects~Day 1, 2011

I am issuing myself a challenge....to post 30 days of projects. I will include some projects that have been completed in the last two months. So here it goes...

Before...a gold wall planter. I've had this thing for several years. I finally broke out the spray paint and gave it a coat or two.

Meets After..I love all the detail that the paint brings up. It looks really pretty with some white blooming Begonia . (I could be wrong...Begonia just doesn't sound right.)

July 2011~After 7 Years...

After living in this home that we bought 7 years ago, I am finally getting my kitchen remodeled.
I use the word "remodeled" loosley. What we are doing is repairing the ceiling and foundation in the kitchen. When we were shown the house in February of 04', the roof/ceiling had a big hole. There were stalactites of ice hanging from the ceiling! Most of the ceiling tiles were on the floor. Huge mess. I wish I had before pictures, sadly I don't. We lived with a blue tarp stapled to the ceiling for all these years. I couldn't wait to pull it down.....

Our first sheet of drywall is up....

Done with the drywall...I'm thinking of putting beadboard up next...The room now feels so much brighter, cleaner, and new.

Our foundation was repaired last week. We learned that it had dropped 2 inches on the west side. Just walking in the kitchen now, the floor feels so much stronger.

Next project: taking out the stove, cabinets and possibly sink to put down linoleum.

Happy 3rd anniversary little blog.
