Before Meets After~10-29-13

This basket has hung beneath our mailbox for a few years.  It was looking a little sad!

A couple coats of white spray paint (of course!) and it was pretty again.  That is our cat Jasper.  Such a sweet boy and constant outdoor companion!

Cast Iron Doorknocker~10-23-13

I bought this beautiful cast iron doorknocker at an antique shop.  The price was $9.00.

I am so undecided about whether or not to paint it.  To paint or not to paint...that is the question?  Care to weigh in?

Before...Sneek Peek~10-20-13

A sneek peek at a little project I am working on.

One very old stool.

Four wheels.  Although these are not the wheels that I used.  I used wheels that have ball bearings so the project can be moved in all different directions as apposed to only a straight line.  Hopefully, by posting this here, it will push me on through to the finish.  I'm not feeling confident about this one.  Do you have any project or ideas that you have been putting off starting or finishing?

Before Meets After~10-15-13

In July of 2012 I was diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma,  the offending mole was removed surgically in August 2012. All is well now.  I have to see a dermatologist and an oncologist every 3 months for the next two years.  Out of four spots I have had removed two were cancerous, two were benign. If you have any moles that have changed in shape, size or color...I urge you to have it looked at.  There are 3 different types of skin cancer.  The type I have can be fatal.  If you have any questions,  I would love to answer them.

So I wanted to find a sunhat.  Ummm, they were $60+  Not in my budget!  I found this over the weekend at a tag sale.  It was new, with tags, for .50 cents.  The cloth ribbon was not to my liking.

A classic white ribbon to the rescue.

I just used what I had on hand.  I'm going to be on the lookout for ribbon with Roses.  My favorite. I tried it on and it fits well, it's just too bad that I don't like the way it looks on me. :(  But, I NEED to wear it.  Cancer stinks.

Before Meets After~10-14-13

I neglected to take a "Before" picture.  This was a Ragu Spaghetti Sauce jar in its former life.  I took a pretty fall napkin and decoupaged it to the jar.  Inside is a tealight candle.  Sweet and simple.

Before Meets After~10-12-13

A very weathered wooden clothespin.  It is used to hold our outgoing mail to the mailbox.

Two coats of white spray paint. (Of course)  I hot glued a silk fall leaf just to make it festive.

Before Meets After~10-11-13

I finally gave in and made a monogram for our front door. (I've been seeing monograms EVERYWHERE on the net.
I'm not real happy with the bottom half of my 'S'.  Oh, well.

A little hot glue,  an untold amount of twine, and an hour and a half of time I now have myself a rather funky 'S' monogram.  Do you have a monogram hanging on your front door?

Before Meets After~10-9-13

My Sweet Love bought me this digital photo frame for my birthday about 5 years ago.  I really like it.

I have always felt like it was lacking in weight.  Does that make sense?

I decided to spray paint a silver 5x7 frame white.  I then hot glued it to the clear area of the frame.

Not a very good picture...I was trying to get a picture of the pretty detail.

Once again not a great picture.  It is really cute in real life.  My Sweet Love even did a triple take when he first saw it.  He says he is amazed by all of the stuff I come up with!

Before Meets After~10-7-13 & My 100th Post!!!

I bought this light switch cover at a resale shop.  I put a piece of decorative wallpaper and put it on and never really liked it.  Just lived with it.  Ever do that?

I finally replaced the light switch along with a new piece of wallpaper.  What a difference from the before to the after.  I love simple little changes that have such a big impact.

This is my 100th Post...
It only took me a little over 5 years to get here. LOL!  I'm still not sure why I decided to start a blog.  It seemed to be the "thing"to do 5+ years ago.  I was hoping to post a daily "happening" in my little world.  I have never become comfortable sharing bits of my life with the blog world.  On the other hand, when I visit blogs that I love and read the posts and comments,  most of the time there seems to be a sense of friendship.  I wanted to be a part of that.  So, I guess that is why I have held on to this little blog.  I will continue to post things that are of interest to me and to my 3 readers!  Lol!

Before Meets After~10-6-13

I went to a town-wide yard sale two weekends ago.  At the last sale, I noticed this lamp laying on the ground.  I bent to pick it up and noticed the FREE tag on it.  I did not need another lamp in my house,  but I have a "thing" for lamps.  So I could not leave it behind. :)

                                                                           Nice Detail
The lampshade was beyond repair.  I stripped all of the material off of the metal frame.

I searched for quite a while in my fabric stash and could not find a suitable piece to make a shade out of.  Happened upon a very old, threadbare pillowcase that my mom gave me 20+years ago.  I cut off the ruffle.  Then I put the frame inside the pillowcase.  I cut off the excess from the top and bottom.  I hot glued the case to the frame.  I then hot glued the ruffle from the pillowcase to the top of the shade.
Glued white pom-poms to the bottom.

I gave the lamp body a couple of coats of Valspar's Lunar Tide. It's kind of Shabby Chic now.  I plan on putting it in our little reading area.

Before Meets After~10-5-13

My little brother gave me this jewelry box maybe 7 years ago.  I love the color of the box but not the decorative inset.

My little sister gave me this handkerchief on my wedding day.  My something blue.  I cut it to fit the oval inset along with a little batting.  Hot glued it around the glass insert.

Now I have two keepsakes in one!  Love!

Before Meets After~10-4-13

I've had this photo box for many years.  I love the floral top.  I was ready to put it in the Goodwill bag because I don't like the Navy on the bottom.

After giving it two coats of Valspar's Lunar Tide,  I think it will be with me for many more years.  I am going to use this box not for photos but as a recipe box.

Before Meets After~10-3-13

I homeschool and needed a dry erase board to write daily "stuff" on. I remembered this window that I picked up at a yard sale about 2 years ago.  I cleaned it up and stapled a sheet of textured wall paper to the back side.  Simple and pretty.

Meets After:
The green was a little too green.  So I gave it two coats of Valspar's Satin Lunar Tide.  My recycling center find found it's home on the "board".

Befor Meets After~10-2-13

I bought this empty compact at Goodwill for .79 cents.

Inside: cleaned out

I cut a piece of pretty fabric and hot glued it into the bottom.
It is now being used to hold Tylenol, Immodium, etc.

A New Month...10-1-13

I always love when a new month begins.  A new calendar page. Time to reset goals. Fresh. New.
I am challenging myself to post EVERY day this month.  So here goes the first post of October.

Just a simple File Holder.  Bought at a yard sale for .25 cents.  I use it to corral magazines.

I wanted to jazz it up a little.  So I applied a section of pre-pasted wallpaper to the front and sides.  Now it looks pretty.

Before Meets After~9-25-13

A yard sale find for .50cents.  Ugly, ugly, ugly!

After a coat of light green paint...a perfect little tray to hold 6 Mason jars.

Before Meets After~9-25-13

I have had this little lap desk for about 15 years.  I have NEVER liked the pattern on the back.

So I found an old cloth napkin,  then I hot glued it to the bottom of the tray.
Meets After:
Now,  I LOVE it!

The pictures aren't very interesting...I need to get a picture of it with its new shade.
