Home a Haven:Day 4~10-7-10

Thursday October 7th

Refresh Your Spirit. I am still reading Psalm 107. Spending time with Him first thing in the morning.

Morning Routine. Same as yesterday.

I took a few minutes before I started school and read a few pages of my Book Club book. Along with some hot chocolate....
I usually only read after I am in bed!

School...In science we learned about our fingerprints. Made little fingerprint people!

In Language Arts, our book for the week is Goodnight Gorilla. Such a sweet story. My favorite part is the little mouse dragging a banana by a string throughout the story. I found this site by the author of the book and we decided to make the "Ants on a Banana-Bus". Soooo cute! The girls loved it. Squeals of delight filled our tiny kitchen. Here is the site in case anyone wants to make them with your kiddos. The illustrations are so sweet. http://www.hamstertours.com/snacks.html

See the little mouse?

Anyone have one of these? This is Daisy. She is around a year old. I found her last year rolling around in the street. (I thought she had been hit.) Nope. The people who she belonged to just didn't care about her. They gave her to me without even thinking about it. ANYWAY, whenever I am prepping for a meal, this is where she is, always. She just stands there watching me, looking all sweet. Spoiled I tell you!

She was watching me prepare these:
Monica posted this recipe on her sweet blog. Visit her here http://thehomespunheart.blogspot.com/2010/10/haven-day-two.html
My plan for tomorrow is the same it has been all week. Time with Him. Make a to-do list. Really connect with my girls. Do something special for myself. Be in the moment.

My home is a haven.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Having a shiny sink is my goal for the rest of the week. I enjoyed how wonderful it felt to get up to a clean sink and counter.

I have home schooled my children. There was a time when we lived in CA and I just did not care for the public school system. I really treasured that time with my children.

GREAT day you guys had! This has been such a delight to see into others world. Ideas emerge and thoughts are created from us all sharing. I love it!
My boys would go crazy over that banana car. And how did you like the apple nachos? I am hooked!
Did I see a toile platter hanging?(Did I spell that right?) I have always wanted a real one.

Hi Tasha,
Thanks for you sweet comments.
I LOVED the apple nachos. I plan to make more today...I have a major sweet tooth 24/7. :)

Yep, a metal tole painted tray! (I think it is called tole painting!)I used a big piece of ribbon to hang it! If you look in places like Goodwill or yard sale you will more than likely find one. I have about 8 different styles. But this one is my favorite!

Make the banana car with your boys, they WILL LOVE IT!

Oh my...I remember so many nights in a row reading Goodnight Gorilla with my daughter. How she loved it. She would giggle hysterically when the lights went out! So now I must visit the link you provided and make those banana cars!

It sounds like you are certainly creating a haven in your home!

Blessings,
Valerie

We have never read "Goodnight Gorilla". Sarah & Ethan will love it. I will be looking for it on library day next week, and the banana cars are adorable. What a fun idea!!! I love the simplicity of your summary at the end of your post. I am feeling sad this week is coming to an end, but I am smiling because it was so wonderful. Monica mentioned doing it again soon ♥ HoOrAy
